It can be difficult to grab brunch with me.
I may be considered an over-thinker: location, price, authenticity, atmosphere, Yelp Rating, previous experience, friend's testimonial, and other factors flood my mind's restaurant optimization algorithm.
But there's 1 factor that wins out: purpose.
When I need shoes, I start with TOMS website. When I need a cookie - it happens - I grab Girl Scouts' Samoas. When I want Sunday brunch, I go to Café 458.
Café 458 is a social enterprise whose proceeds fund workforce development and rehousing resources for the homeless of Atlanta. To help keep costs lean and thus increase fundraising, the Edgewood brunch destination employs volunteers to wait and bus tables. Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency (ACSS), the parent non-profit organization of Café 458, offers a 3-week job placement program called 'CareerWorks' that see hundreds of graduates each year find jobs.
Since 2010, ACSS has helped over 1,500 homeless Atlantans get hired full-time.
Café 458 inspires me. It represents the larger reason why we started Fenix Risk Management: purpose. We want to be the insurance agency that clients are proud of - the agency that clients don't need to overthink. Whether it's waiting tables at Café 458 or volunteering at Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, we are driven by the values of sustainability and Georgian community. ACSS is our charity of the 1st quarter of 2019.
What purpose does your insurance agency serve?
